Circle 3/5/09 On Your Calendars

The first day in a while when the entire family bathed/showered on the same day. It took 12 hours to get everyone, but we did it. The best part is when we told Gavin he could choose a bath or a shower and he replied "but I took a bath last week, it isn't time yet". Classic.

Missing the Point

We finally sat together as a family at the dining room table for dinner tonight - something we haven't really done in almost 2 weeks because of the baby craziness. As we normally do, we discussed how school went, what plans we all had for the week, etc. We talked about having Gavin's jr-K teacher over for lunch one day to see the kids. Gavin mentioned that he was pretty busy this week, teaching himself about dinosaurs. So Elle told him that maybe a week from Thursday. I told him he should pencil that in on his calendar so that he doesn't double book it. And this is how it went:

Gavin: What's double book mean?
Terry: That's where you schedule two things at the same time.
G: What two things?
T: Any two things. Like books, you can't read two books at the same time. Or shows, you can't watch two shows at the same time.
G: You can if you have DirecTV.

A Great Big Brother

Gavin was always very sweet with Maggie when she was an infant, but then he was also only 17 months old. Now that he is a big brother again, and so much older, he is showing just what a sweet guy he is. He can’t get enough of his baby sister, asking to hold her all the time (even when she is screaming). The girls are very lucky to have such a sweet and loving big brother. And I feel fortunate to have a resource in my quest to overprotect my daughters – when the boys start calling, I can let Gavin take point on scaring them away!
